Most people own several DVDs that they would like to see on iTunes. However, for commercial reasons, Apple does not provide any means of ripping a DVD to iTunes. Therefore, the only recourse left to people is to use some other software to do the conversion. There are professional products in the market that will allow you to convert your DVD collection for viewing on iTunes.

You can easily rip your DVDs with a professional DVD ripper like Tipard iTunes. You will be able to convert DVDs without any loss in quality. Other features available are cropping of the black bar, appending effects to the DVD video, splitting the video, or merging multiple files and many more. This converter makes it possible for you to play your DVD collection through iTunes on your iPod Touch, iPhone4, iPad or other compatible portable players.

The operation of conversion is simple and can be performed by anyone, without technical knowledge. The software is available on two platforms, Windows and Mac, so both types of users can avail it. Linux users will need to use AVIDemux-2 and convert their DVDs to MP4 for watching on iTunes.

Windows users will initially need to download and install Tipard iTunes DVD Ripper on their system and run it. Clicking on 'Load DVD' will add the DVD Movies that you want to rip to iTunes. With this converter, it is possible to convert ISO files as well.

Next, you will have to select the output format. For converting and playing on iTunes, the format you will need is M4V, MP4 or MOV. Therefore, select MP4 from the 'Common Video'. Indicate the output folder where you want the converted file to be.

At this point, either you may want to convert the entire DVD without any further changes, or you may want to edit the video to get a customized iTunes video. The software has several powerful editing features that will make the editing a simple affair, and you can enjoy your self-produced video in your favorite iTunes in any of the portable devices.

However, if no further editing is required, then simply hit the 'Start' button to begin the conversion. Depending on how big your original DVD was, you may have to wait for a while before your converted file is ready.

Once the conversion is finished, you may check out the quality of your converted video file in any iPhone4, iPad or iPod Touch, playing iTunes. If you are satisfied, you may plan to store the video on your hard disk or burn it onto a DVD.
