Windows Media Player fans love to customize their player's skins and theme. Default Windows Media Player skin is fair good but you might get bored with this skin. In this article, you will download free skins for Windows Media Player 11 and 12, and learn how to apply, change it and delete it.

How to Apply a New Skin to Windows Media Player

From internet or Microsoft's support website, you could download many free Windows Media Player skins. Usually you could extract the skin to \Storage\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player and then apply skins as described below or simply double click the .wmz file.

Note: To install some skins, you must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the Administrators group.

Open your Windows Media Player
Click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Player.
If the Player is currently open and you’re in Now Playing mode, click the Switch to Library button in the upper-right corner of the Player.
Apply Windows Media Player Skins
To apply Windows Media Player skins, go to the View menu, and then click Skin Chooser. In the left pane, click the skin that you want to apply. A preview of the skin appears in the right pane, then click Apply Skin.

Delete Windows Media Player Skins

Bored with a skin, let it disappeared from your world. To do so, click the View menu, and select Skin Chooser. In the left pane, click the skin that you want to delete, and then click the Delete selected skin button.

Note: If the View menu isn't visible, you'll need to show the menu bar by clicking Organize, pointing to Layout, and then selecting Show menu bar.
